Description
This is a one-of-a-kind piece in that the dishes that Vernon Kilns used to construct this piece, I believe, were factory defects, although none of the imperfections are visible/noticeable from the position of a guest.
The top plate is 9 1/2”, the middle plate is 10” and the bottom plate is 10 1/2”. These sizes are, in and of themselves, unusual. The bottom plate has an air bubble about the size of a seed. The middle plate has a small cluster of minute air bubbles. The top plate would have been cause for the artist’s dismissal but shows the authenticity of these being hand-painted plates, as there are brown fingerprints and smudges along the lower edge of the plate!
It’s a piece that has character and a story to tell.
The server will be shipped with the top and bottom plate removed from the center sprockets (I’ve been unable to get the sprockets unscrewed from the middle plate and am unwilling to break it by continuing to try).
